On Tuesday, March 12 th at 11 AM, 2024 Parade Co-Grand Marshals Mike and Chris Hoke will be honoring the parade’s first Grand Marshal, Irish pioneer John C. Devereux, by placing shamrocks on his grave.
Flanked by the parade committee, members of the Irish Cultural Center, the H.A.R.P. Museum, John C. Devereux Division #1 Ancient Order of Hibernians, and local dignitaries, the Hokes will place shamrocks on and around the grave marker, replicating Devereux’s gesture of homage to his beloved homeland
and its patron saint: sporting a shamrock in his buttonhole when he led the first parade, 200 years ago this year.

The public is also invited to attend. The ceremony takes place at St. Agnes Cemetery.
