In this the darkening time of year, Samhain arrives to herald autumn down its slide to winter, when the barrier between the living and the dead is thinnest. This evening we will present stories collected in 19th century rural Ireland. Stories and songs from a time when science wasn’t so sure of itself. Tales and tunes of banshees and fiends, musical fairies - not the nice kind - and of course ghosts. We endeavor here this evening to embrace the dark and shorten the night.
The name Amadán Dubh hails from Irish folklore and refers to the “dark fool” or “dark fairy”. A trickster fairy, Amadán Dubh is the "bringer of madness and oblivion…haunting the hills after sunset playing reed pipes to work his magic.”
Tonight, Amadán Dubh inhabits Sue Romero, Mike Hoke, Bill Fahy and Mike Carroll.
